TURKEY FOR ONE
These delicious and satisfying recipes are perfect for divorced fathers spending Thanksgiving away from their children.
YIELD: A Thanksgiving meal for one, plus leftovers for days.
TIME: Varies by turkey size.
INGREDIENTS
1 small turkey
1 small container of breadcrumbs
1 stick of butter
3 garlic cloves
1 sweet onion
½ bell pepper
1 sprinkle of parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
-
Rip the turkey’s neck out of its body and pull the bag of organs from inside the bird.
-
Wash the inside of the turkey with water. Drain and repeat.
-
Put the neck, heart, and liver into a pot of boiling water.
-
Begin preparing the stuffing by shaking a generous amount of breadcrumbs into a big bowl. Then melt 1 stick of butter and pour it into the bowl with the breadcrumbs.
-
Mince 3 cloves of garlic. Cut 1 sweet onion and ½ a bell pepper into tiny cubes. Drop everything into the bowl with the breadcrumbs and the butter and add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
-
Pour 2 cups of boiled-turkey-organ water into the bowl with the breadcrumbs, butter, garlic, onion, bell pepper, and parmesan. Mix it all together.
-
Stuff the stuffing inside of the turkey.
-
Cook the turkey in the oven at 325°F for 20 minutes per pound of turkey, or until the internal temperature is 160°F.
COOKING TIP: Basting is a waste of time—because of the turkey’s skin, the juices roll right off.
